A Happy Cupcake New Year Ahead

Well, it’s here! 2012 I always start the new year a little apprehensive - kinda afraid to stick my nose out until I get a feel for what I think lies ahead but not this year! I’m going boldly into the new year and trying some things that I had wanted to but just didn’t have the time in 2011. Now I’m not complaining about 2011 - Lots of new friends came into our shop for the first time, Cupcake Wars - - twice :D, cupcakes at the Governor’s mansion and opening the second shop! The upside to being busy is that you are; the downside is that all you get to do sometime is react as opposed to plan. So - for 2012 my commitment is to slow down! Slow down and enjoy the moment and be in the present.  You’ll notice this commitment carrying over to the shops. How you ask?

Monday mini’s • we will carry mini’s of all of our cupcake flavors on Monday’s.  We invite you to stop in for a cup of coffee, cocoa or ice cold milk and have a mini…or two!

Cupcake decorating classes • I’ve been saying that we’re going to do it but now we really are! Look for one to be offered in late January and another in early February to learn how to frost and decorate cupcakes, at home, in time for Valentine’s Day.

Text messages • I personally have a problem with the amount of texts I send a day so I want to text you, too, with specials, happy hours and the announcement of new flavors or contests. So, be on the lookout for that!

For the kids! • We love our littlest visitors and want them to have a great time while they are there.  We will have our house made hot chocolate or ice cold milk for our little cupcake munchkins. While you’re there, we have games, puzzles and coloring pages to keep everyone happy so please ask your cupcake helper where they are stashed!  (I’ve seen the cupcake helpers coloring, too)

Just Cupcakes + David Tutera

First just let me say that David Tutera is absolutely as terrific as he appears on television and couldn’t be more gracious. So that’s 2 for 2 for me; Johnny Cupcakes was the other. We were a vendor in the recent Uniquely Yours Bridal Showcase Cocktail Party and bridal show (more on that tomorrow).  My girls at the shop couldn’t have been more excited about David (yes, we’re on a first name basis - he doesn’t know that though :-) and I have to be honest that I had to google him.  Shocking, I know, but true. My Mom even knew he was! Then I dvr’d all of his shows and now I have a serious crush *gasp*

We did have a great display and featured our pink champagne cupcakes. Based on our popular vanilla vanilla cupcake, PC has a full cup of sparkling champagne (yes, we use the good stuff because we drink what’s left). We then create a yummy champagne buttercream with emulsified strawberries and sprinkle (liberally) with glitter and sanding sugar.  It’s really light, not too sweet, and seriously yummy.

Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour

We are so excited to announce that Just Cupcakes (JC) is the 3rd stop on the Johnny Cupcakes (JC), get it JC + JC ~ it was meant to be ;-), suitcase tour.  Way before I opened the shop I was a JC (his JC not mine) fan.  Being a design junkie, he’s been on my radar for a very long time.  He just does it all right.  Great design and branding and does it consistently every time.  If you follow us on twitter you know it was Christmas in March on Saturday when we got our supply of The Cupcake Chronicle, some stickers, badges and a very cool pencil. That’s right, my Volvo now sports a Make Cupcakes Not War Sticker. How many people can say that! Chronicle’s are available on the counter at the shop. Also, starting next week we’ll be having in-store events in anticipation. First sweet deal - starting 3/15 wear a Johnny Cupcakes t-shirt into the shop and get a free cupcake.
